Once Saved Always Saved?

Please be patient with me as this article is not complete but Lord willing will be done soon :o)

Paul warned us over 1900 years ago, that shortly after his departure, Christians within the church would arise speaking lies that would pervert the truth:

Acts 20:28-30 Take heed unto yourselves, and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit hath made you bishops, to feed the church of the Lord which he purchased with his own blood. (29) I know that after my departing grievous wolves shall enter in among you, not sparing the flock; (30) and from among your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.

Any Christian including Paul who dares to teach any gospel other than what the apostles taught, were to be “anathema” which is accursed or hell bound:

Galatians 1:6-8 I marvel that ye are so quickly removing from him that called you in the grace of Christ unto a different gospel; (7) which is not another gospel: only there are some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. (8) But though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach unto you any gospel other than that which we preached unto you, let him be anathema.

They are false teachers fashioning themselves as ministers of righteousness while perverting the gospel of Christ:

2 Corinthians 11:13-15 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, fashioning themselves into apostles of Christ. (14) And no marvel; for even Satan fashioneth himself into an angel of light. (15) It is no great thing therefore if his ministers also fashion themselves as ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works.

These ministers promote ear tickling sermons that appeal to the flesh:

2 Timothy 4:3-4 For the time will come when they will not endure the sound doctrine; but, having itching ears, will heap to themselves teachers after their own lusts; (4) and will turn away their ears from the truth, and turn aside unto fables.

One of those ear tickling false doctrines in the church today is this fable that once a person is “saved” they are always saved which is often referred to as unconditional eternal security.

We are instructed by both Jesus and Paul to consider every word of every scripture in the New Testament when constructing a doctrine such as eternal security in our new covenant:

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for instruction which is in righteousness: (17) that the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work.

Those ear tickling bible teachers simply ignore the hundreds of passages that clearly prove eternal salvation is conditional on our obedience to Jesus who is the Word of God:

Hebrews 5:7-9 Who in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear, (8) though he was a Son, yet learned obedience by the things which he suffered; (9) and having been made perfect, he became unto all them that obey him the author of eternal salvation;

Those Christians who do not learn to keep Jesus’ commandments are proving they do not love Him nor is His truth in them:

John 14:15 If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments.

1 John 2:3-5 And hereby we know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. (4) He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him; (5) but whoso keepeth his word, in him verily hath the love of God been perfected. Hereby we know that we are in him:

As believers we are commanded to present ourselves as servants of obedience unto righteousness:

Romans 6:12-16 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey the lusts thereof: (13) neither present your members unto sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves unto God, as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. (14) For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under law, but under grace. (15) What then? shall we sin, because we are not under law, but under grace? God forbid. (16) Know ye not, that to whom ye present yourselves as servants unto obedience, his servants ye are whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Those saints who present themselves as servants unto obedience to God will have their fruit unto sanctification and in their end eternal life:

Romans 6:20-22 For when ye were servants of sin, ye were free in regard of righteousness. (21) What fruit then had ye at that time in the things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. (22) But now being made free from sin and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto sanctification, and the end eternal life.

Paul was agreeing with Jesus’ parable where we are born again branches in Jesus as the Vine who must bear His fruit unto sanctification:

John 15:1- 3 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. (2) Every branch in me that beareth not fruit, he taketh it away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he cleanseth it, that it may bear more fruit. (3) Already ye are clean because of the word which I have spoken unto you.

Our Father as the husbandman(gardener) expects us to bear the fruit of His Vine who is the Word of God that we must abide in or risk being cut back off of Jesus and cast into the fires of hell:

John 15:4-6 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; so neither can ye, except ye abide in me. (5) I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same beareth much fruit: for apart from me ye can do nothing. (6) If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

To abide in Jesus is to study the Word of God with a hunger and thirst for righteousness as His disciples:

2 Timothy 2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Matthew 5:6 Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

John 8:31-32 Jesus therefore said to those Jews that had believed him, If ye abide in my word, then are ye truly my disciples; (32) and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

A true disciple will seek to be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding that helps us to walk worthily of the Lord in bearing fruit in every good work:

Colossians 1:9-10 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray and make request for you, that ye may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, (10) to walk worthily of the Lord unto all pleasing, bearing fruit in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

Whether we are likened to a branch on the vine or as a tree, the requirement to bear good fruit is always the same or be cast into the fires of hell:

Matthew 7:15-20 Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves. (16) By their fruits ye shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? (17) Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but the corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. (18) A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. (19) Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. (20) Therefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

Paul was speaking directly to the church at Galatia when he was warning that those who practice the works of their flesh will not inherit the kingdom of God but those who learn to walk by the Holy Spirit will bear the good fruit:

Galatians 5:14-25 For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, even in this: Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. (15) But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. (16) But I say, Walk by the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. (17) For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are contrary the one to the other; that ye may not do the things that ye would. (18) But if ye are led by the Spirit, ye are not under the law. (19) Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, (20) idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousies, wraths, factions, divisions, parties, (21) envyings, drunkenness, revellings, and such like; of which I forewarn you, even as I did forewarn you, that they who practice such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. (22) But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, (23) meekness, self-control; against such there is no law. (24) And they that are of Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with the passions and the lusts thereof. (25) If we live by the Spirit, by the Spirit let us also walk.

Only Christians partake of the Word of God with the Holy Spirit but those who chose to fall away will be burned in the fires of hell:

Hebrews 6:4-8 For as touching those who were once enlightened and tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Spirit, (5) and tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the age to come, (6) and then fell away, it is impossible to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame. (7) For the land which hath drunk the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them for whose sake it is also tilled, receiveth blessing from God: (8) but if it beareth thorns and thistles, it is rejected and nigh unto a curse; whose end is to be burned.

Thorns and thistles in our land is the evil fruit that Jesus said would choke out the seed of the Word of God that should bring forth the good fruit to perfection in us as the parable of the sower teaches:

Luke 8:11-15 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. (12) And those by the way side are they that have heard; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word from their heart, that they may not believe and be saved. (13) And those on the rock are they who, when they have heard, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. (14) And that which fell among the thorns, these are they that have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. (15) And that in the good ground, these are such as in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it fast, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Our land must become the good ground that receives the seed of the Word bearing good fruit as all three parables of the sower prove:

The more we exercise our faith to manifest the fruits of the Spirit the more we learn to love even those who persecute us that we may prove we are sons of our Father:

Matthew 5:43-48 Ye have heard that it was said, Thou shalt love thy neighbor, and hate thine enemy: (44) but I say unto you, Love your enemies, and pray for them that persecute you; (45) that ye may be sons of your Father who is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sendeth rain on the just and the unjust. (46) For if ye love them that love you, what reward have ye? do not even the publicans the same? (47) And if ye salute your brethren only, what do ye more than others? do not even the Gentiles the same? (48) Ye therefore shall be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

Father’s sons will learn to be doers of all His Word and not just hearers:

James 1:21-25 Wherefore putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. (22) But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deluding your own selves. (23) For if any one is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a mirror: (24) for he beholdeth himself, and goeth away, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. (25) But he that looketh into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and so continueth, being not a hearer that forgetteth but a doer that worketh, this man shall be blessed in his doing.

Only those Christians who do the will of the Father will enter into the kingdom of heaven:

Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven. (22) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy by thy name, and by thy name cast out demons, and by thy name do many mighty works? (23) And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Paul proved in his parable that we as Gentile Christians are grafted into the ONE olive tree but can be cut back off for being highminded rather than continuing in the goodness of God:

Romans 11:17-22 But if some of the branches were broken off, and thou, being a wild olive, wast grafted in among them, and didst become partaker with them of the root of the fatness of the olive tree; (18) glory not over the branches: but if thou gloriest, it is not thou that bearest the root, but the root thee. (19) Thou wilt say then, Branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in. (20) Well; by their unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by thy faith. Be not highminded, but fear: (21) for if God spared not the natural branches, neither will he spare thee. (22) Behold then the goodness and severity of God: toward them that fell, severity; but toward thee, God’s goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

A highminded Christian is one who continues to exalt the things of the flesh rather than learning to be led by the Spirit:

Romans 8:5-9 For they that are after the flesh mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit. (6) For the mind of the flesh is death; but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace: (7) because the mind of the flesh is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can it be: (8) and they that are in the flesh cannot please God. (9) But ye are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you. But if any man hath not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

All Christian brethren are debtors to God to be led by His Spirit to put to death the deeds of our flesh:

Romans 8:12-14 So then, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh: (13) for if ye live after the flesh, ye must die; but if by the Spirit ye put to death the deeds of the body, ye shall live. (14) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Paul warned that many brethren walk contrary to the Spirit of God minding earthly things:

Philippians 3:17-19 Brethren, be ye imitators together of me, and mark them that so walk even as ye have us for an ensample. (18) For many walk, of whom I told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: (19) whose end is perdition, whose god is the belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.

Those who mind earthly things continue to love the world and the things in the world:

1 John 2:15-17 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (16) For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the vainglory of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. (17) And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

We must learn to die to the world so that we bear much fruit:

John 12:24-26 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a grain of wheat fall into the earth and die, it abideth by itself alone; but if it die, it beareth much fruit. (25) He that loveth his life loseth it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. (26) If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will the Father honor.

The Christian who sows to his flesh shall reap corruption(hell) but he that sows to the Spirit shall reap eternal life:

Galatians 6:7-9 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. (8) For he that soweth unto his own flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth unto the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap eternal life. (9) And let us not be weary in well-doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

As soldiers of Christ we must learn to increasingly become untangled from the affairs of this life:

2 Timothy 2:3-4 Suffer hardship with me, as a good soldier of Christ Jesus. (4) No soldier on service entangleth himself in the affairs of this life; that he may please him who enrolled him as a soldier.

But in these last days many Christians love the pleasures of this life more than they love God. They hold a form of godliness but deny His power to put to death the deeds of their flesh:

2 Timothy 3:1-7 But know this, that in the last days grievous times shall come. (2) For men shall be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, haughty, railers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, (3) without natural affection, implacable, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, no lovers of good, (4) traitors, headstrong, puffed up, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God; (5) holding a form of godliness, but having denied the power thereof: from these also turn away. (6) For of these are they that creep into houses, and take captive silly women laden with sins, led away by divers lusts, (7) ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

Jude described these shepherds and their sheep as autumn trees without the good fruit who are twice dead:

Jude 1:12 These are they who are hidden rocks in your love-feasts when they feast with you, shepherds that without fear feed themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

Our body can only die a physical death once:

Hebrews 9:27 And inasmuch as it is appointed unto men once to die, and after this cometh judgment;

It is our soul that is first spiritually dead until the Word of God saves us:

Ephesians 2:1 And you did he make alive, when ye were dead through your trespasses and sins,

James 1:21 Wherefore putting away all filthiness and overflowing of wickedness, receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

But the Christian soul who errors from the knowledge of the truth and chooses to live in wilful sin will become twice dead if he or she refuses to repent:

James 5:19-20 My brethren, if any among you err from the truth, and one convert him; (20) let him know, that he who converteth a sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall cover a multitude of sins.

Hebrews 10:26-27 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more a sacrifice for sins, (27) but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and a fierceness of fire which shall devour the adversaries.

As believers we are to continuously lay up the promises of the Word in our heart using them to cleanse us from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God:

Psalms 119:11 Thy word have I laid up in my heart, That I might not sin against thee.

2 Corinthians 7:1 Having therefore these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Those Christian souls who do not fear God enough to do this just may end up in hell:

Matthew 10:28 And be not afraid of them that kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

It would be better for a Christian not to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back back into wilful sin:

2 Peter 2:18-22 For, uttering great swelling words of vanity, they entice in the lusts of the flesh, by lasciviousness, those who are just escaping from them that live in error; (19) promising them liberty, while they themselves are bondservants of corruption; for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he also brought into bondage. (20) For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein and overcome, the last state is become worse with them than the first. (21) For it were better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after knowing it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered unto them. (22) It has happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog turning to his own vomit again, and the sow that had washed to wallowing in the mire.

Jesus taught His disciples and by extension His church that if any part of our body causes us to live in wilful sin it would be better to cut that part off than to be cast into hell with our whole body:

Matthew 18:8-9 And if thy hand or thy foot causeth thee to stumble, cut it off, and cast it from thee: it is good for thee to enter into life maimed or halt, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into the eternal fire. (9) And if thine eye causeth thee to stumble, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is good for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into the hell of fire.

We are to be continuously purifying ourselves through the knowledge of our Father’s Word:

1 John 3:3-6 And every one that hath this hope set on him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. (4) Every one that doeth sin doeth also lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness. (5) And ye know that he was manifested to take away sins; and in him is no sin. (6) Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither knoweth him.

Those Christians who chose to live in wilful sin have no sacrifice for their sins:

Hebrews 10:26-29 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more a sacrifice for sins, (27) but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and a fierceness of fire which shall devour the adversaries. (28) A man that hath set at nought Moses’ law dieth without compassion on the word of two or three witnesses: (29) of how much sorer punishment, think ye, shall he be judged worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant wherewith he was sanctified an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?

Hebrews 10:38-39 But my righteous one shall live by faith: And if he shrink back, my soul hath no pleasure in him. (39) But we are not of them that shrink back unto perdition; but of them that have faith unto the saving of the soul.

Hebrews 11:3 By faith we understand that the worlds have been framed by the word of God, so that what is seen hath not been made out of things which appear.

Hebrews 11:13-16 These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. (14) For they that say such things make it manifest that they are seeking after a country of their own. (15) And if indeed they had been mindful of that country from which they went out, they would have had opportunity to return. (16) But now they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed of them, to be called their God; for he hath prepared for them a city.

James 1:13-15 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God; for God cannot be tempted with evil, and he himself tempteth no man: (14) but each man is tempted, when he is drawn away by his own lust, and enticed. (15) Then the lust, when it hath conceived, beareth sin: and the sin, when it is fullgrown, bringeth forth death.

James 4:4 Ye adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever therefore would be a friend of the world maketh himself an enemy of God.

James 5:7 Be patient therefore, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient over it, until it receive the early and latter rain.

James 2:13-18 For judgment is without mercy to him that hath showed no mercy: mercy glorieth against judgment. (14) What doth it profit, my brethren, if a man say he hath faith, but have not works? can that faith save him? (15) If a brother or sister be naked and in lack of daily food, (16) and one of you say unto them, Go in peace, be ye warmed and filled; and yet ye give them not the things needful to the body; what doth it profit? (17) Even so faith, if it have not works, is dead in itself. (18) Yea, a man will say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: show me thy faith apart from thy works, and I by my works will show thee my faith.

1 Corinthians 5:5 to deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.

We are the temple of God but if we chose to live in willful sin we will destroy our temple:

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 Know ye not that ye are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? (17) If any man destroyeth the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, and such are ye.

1 Corinthians 5:7-11 Purge out the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, even as ye are unleavened. For our passover also hath been sacrificed, even Christ: (8) wherefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. (9) I wrote unto you in my epistle to have no company with fornicators; (10) not at all meaning with the fornicators of this world, or with the covetous and extortioners, or with idolaters; for then must ye needs go out of the world: (11) but as it is, I wrote unto you not to keep company, if any man that is named a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one no, not to eat.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or know ye not that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which ye have from God? and ye are not your own; (20) for ye were bought with a price: glorify God therefore in your body.

Revelation 3:14-17 And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God: (15) I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. (16) So because thou art lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spew thee out of my mouth. (17) Because thou sayest, I am rich, and have gotten riches, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art the wretched one and miserable and poor and blind and naked:

 Hebrews 2:1-3 Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things that were heard, lest haply we drift away from them. (2) For if the word spoken through angels proved stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompense of reward; (3) how shall we escape, if we neglect so great a salvation? which having at the first been spoken through the Lord, was confirmed unto us by them that heard;

Hebrews 3:6 but Christ as a son, over his house; whose house are we, if we hold fast our boldness and the glorying of our hope firm unto the end.

Hebrews 3:8-15 Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, Like as in the day of the trial in the wilderness, (9) Where your fathers tried me by proving me, And saw my works forty years. (10) Wherefore I was displeased with this generation, And said, They do always err in their heart: But they did not know my ways; (11) As I sware in my wrath, They shall not enter into my rest. (12) Take heed, brethren, lest haply there shall be in any one of you an evil heart of unbelief, in falling away from the living God: (13) but exhort one another day by day, so long as it is called To-day; lest any one of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin: (14) for we are become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our confidence firm unto the end: (15) while it is said, To-day if ye shall hear his voice, Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation.

Hebrews 4:9-11 There remaineth therefore a sabbath rest for the people of God. (10) For he that is entered into his rest hath himself also rested from his works, as God did from his. (11) Let us therefore give diligence to enter into that rest, that no man fall after the same example of disobedience.

Romans 2:6-11 who will render to every man according to his works: (7) to them that by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and incorruption, eternal life: (8) but unto them that are factious, and obey not the truth, but obey unrighteousness, shall be wrath and indignation, (9) tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that worketh evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Greek; (10) but glory and honor and peace to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek: (11) for there is no respect of persons with God.

Revelation 22:18-19 I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto them, God shall add unto him the plagues which are written in this book: (19) and if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the tree of life, and out of the holy city, which are written in this book.

All Israel

Who is “all Israel” today?

Peter made mention of some things Paul taught that were hard to be understood causing the ignorant and unstedfast to wrestle with:

2 Peter 3:15-16 And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given to him, wrote unto you; (16) as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; wherein are some things hard to be understood, which the ignorant and unstedfast wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.

One of those subjects Paul so eloquently proved but the church so violently opposes is the understanding of who the Israel of God is today:

Galatians 6:15-16 For neither is circumcision anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. (16) And as many as shall walk by this rule, peace be upon them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.

Let’s pull some key scriptures together to help lay the ground work for what Paul was saying :o)

Almost 2000 years before Christ, our Father made a covenant with Abraham that he would be the father of a multitude of nations. Father required every male throughout Abraham’s generations that was born in his house, bought with money, or any foreigner that is not of his seed was to be physically circumcised as a token of the covenant:

Genesis 17:1-14 And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, Jehovah appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am God Almighty; walk before me, and be thou perfect. (2) And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. (3) And Abram fell on his face: and God talked with him, saying, (4) As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be the father of a multitude of nations. (5) Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for the father of a multitude of nations have I made thee. (6) And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee. (7) And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee throughout their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee and to thy seed after thee. (8) And I will give unto thee, and to thy seed after thee, the land of thy sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God. (9) And God said unto Abraham, And as for thee, thou shalt keep my covenant, thou, and thy seed after thee throughout their generations. (10) This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee: every male among you shall be circumcised. (11) And ye shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of a covenant betwixt me and you. (12) And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every male throughout your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any foreigner that is not of thy seed. (13) He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant. (14) And the uncircumcised male who is not circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.

It is very important to note that though this covenant was made with Abraham around 1900 BC, it was not until 1200 years later during the reign of king Ahaz around 700 BC that the first mention in the bible of the nickname “Jews” was used to refer to the people of Israel:

2 Kings 16:5-6 Then Rezin king of Syria and Pekah son of Remaliah king of Israel came up to Jerusalem to war: and they besieged Ahaz, but could not overcome him.  (6) At that time Rezin king of Syria recovered Elath to Syria, and drove the Jews from Elath; and the Syrians came to Elath, and dwelt there, unto this day.

After the resurrection and ascension of Christ, our Father gave the nickname of a “Jew” to those who are circumcised inwardly in their heart in the spirit not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God:

Romans 2:28-29 For he is not a Jew who is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision which is outward in the flesh: (29) but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.

So today through faith in Christ Jesus we as Gentiles are Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise of the gospel that was preached to Abraham 4000 years ago that all who are Christ’s from all nations are blessed:

Galatians 3:7-9 Know therefore that they that are of faith, the same are sons of Abraham. (8) And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all the nations be blessed. (9) So then they that are of faith are blessed with the faithful Abraham.

Galatians 3:26-29 For ye are all sons of God, through faith, in Christ Jesus. (27) For as many of you as were baptized into Christ did put on Christ. (28)  There can be neither Jew nor Greek, there can be neither bond nor free, there can be no male and female; for ye all are one man in Christ Jesus. (29) And if ye are Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, heirs according to promise.

The fact that this gospel was spoken by God to Abraham 2000 years before Christ proves our Father always intended to bring Gentiles with the Jews into one man in Christ Jesus. Not as physical Jews but spiritual Jews inwardly whose circumcision is that of the heart in the spirit not in the letter for those baptized into Christ and have put on Christ:

Romans 6:4-5  We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life. (5) For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection;

Romans 13:14  But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

The physical Jews who were the children of Israel were also called the church who Moses led out of Egypt into the wilderness:

Acts 7:37-39 This is that Moses, who said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall God raise up unto you from among your brethren, like unto me. (38) This is he that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel that spake to him in the Mount Sinai, and with our fathers: who received living oracles to give unto us: (39) to whom our fathers would not be obedient, but thrust him from them, and turned back in their hearts unto Egypt,

So if our Father through His Holy Spirit moved Paul to refer to the children of Israel as the church and always intended to bring Gentiles in from all nations then the new covenant is with the house of Israel who is the church made up of both Jews and Greeks(Gentiles) as one man in Christ with no distinction between them:

Hebrews 8:9-10 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers In the day that I took them by the hand to lead them forth out of the land of Egypt; For they continued not in my covenant, And I regarded them not, saith the Lord. (10) For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel After those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, And on their heart also will I write them: And I will be to them a God, And they shall be to me a people:

Romans 10:12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek: for the same Lord is Lord of all, and is rich unto all that call upon him:

Colossians 3:10-11 and have put on the new man, that is being renewed unto knowledge after the image of him that created him: (11)  where there cannot be Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, barbarian, Scythian, bondman, freeman; but Christ is all, and in all.

Under the old covenant the Gentiles were alienated from the commonwealth of Israel but the new covenant reconciled both the Jew and the Gentile into one body unto God through the cross so the Gentiles became fellow-citizens of Israel as fellow saints of the household of God:

Ephesians 2:11-22 Wherefore remember, that once ye, the Gentiles in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called Circumcision, in the flesh, made by hands; (12) that ye were at that time separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world. (13) But now in Christ Jesus ye that once were far off are made nigh in the blood of Christ. (14) For he is our peace, who made both one, and brake down the middle wall of partition, (15) having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; that he might create in himself of the two one new man, so making peace; (16) and might reconcile them both in one body unto God through the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: (17) and he came and preached peace to you that were far off, and peace to them that were nigh: (18) for through him we both have our access in one Spirit unto the Father. (19) So then ye are no more strangers and sojourners, but ye are fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God, (20) being built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the chief corner stone; (21) in whom each several building, fitly framed together, groweth into a holy temple in the Lord; (22) in whom ye also are builded together for a habitation of God in the Spirit.

Father never intended for His children to be just from the physical seed of Abraham but the children of His promise were chosen by Him from both the physical Jews and the Gentiles before the foundation of the world as He foreordained us unto adoption as sons through Jesus Christ unto himself, according to the good pleasure of his will:

Romans 9:6-8 But it is not as though the word of God hath come to nought. For they are not all Israel, that are of Israel: (7) neither, because they are Abraham’s seed, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. (8) That is, it is not the children of the flesh that are children of God; but the children of the promise are reckoned for a seed.

Galatians 3:13-14 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us; for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: (14)  that upon the Gentiles might come the blessing of Abraham in Christ Jesus; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Ephesians 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ: (4) even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blemish before him in love: (5)  having foreordained us unto adoption as sons through Jesus Christ unto himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

We must never forget it is Father who declares from the beginning of the world who His sons will be in the end:

Isaiah 46:9-10 Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me; (10)  declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done; saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure;

He declared in Isaiah that only a remnant of physical Israel will be saved when He is about to finish His Word upon the earth:

Romans 9:27-28  And Isaiah crieth concerning Israel, If the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, it is the remnant that shall be saved:  (28)  for the Lord will execute his word upon the earth, finishing it and cutting it short.

But two chapters later Paul is declaring “all Israel” shall be saved:

Romans 11:26  and so all Israel shall be saved: even as it is written, There shall come out of Zion the Deliverer; He shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:

The only way for this to be true is if Father declared from the beginning that the commonwealth of Israel will be made up of many Jews and Gentiles grafted into ONE olive tree:

Romans 11:7-28 What then? That which Israel seeketh for, that he obtained not; but the election obtained it, and the rest were hardened: (8) according as it is written, God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear, unto this very day. (9) And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, And a stumblingblock, and a recompense unto them: (10) Let their eyes be darkened, that they may not see, And bow thou down their back always. (11) I say then, Did they stumble that they might fall? God forbid: but by their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, to provoke them to jealousy. (12) Now if their fall is the riches of the world, and their loss the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness? (13) But I speak to you that are Gentiles. Inasmuch then as I am an apostle of Gentiles, I glorify my ministry; (14) if by any means I may provoke to jealousy them that are my flesh, and may save some of them. (15) For if the casting away of them is the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead? (16) And if the firstfruit is holy, so is the lump: and if the root is holy, so are the branches. (17) But if some of the branches were broken off, and thou, being a wild olive, wast grafted in among them, and didst become partaker with them of the root of the fatness of the olive tree; (18) glory not over the branches: but if thou gloriest, it is not thou that bearest the root, but the root thee. (23) And they also, if they continue not in their unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again. (24) For if thou wast cut out of that which is by nature a wild olive tree, and wast grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree; how much more shall these, which are the natural branches, be grafted into their own olive tree? (25) For I would not, brethren, have you ignorant of this mystery, lest ye be wise in your own conceits, that a hardening in part hath befallen Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in; (26) and so all Israel shall be saved: even as it is written, There shall come out of Zion the Deliverer; He shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob: (27) And this is my covenant unto them, When I shall take away their sins. (28) As touching the gospel, they are enemies for your sake: but as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sake

So the mystery is the commonwealth of Israel is made up of only those Jews and Gentiles who are not broken off of that ONE olive tree called “all Israel” that was also called the “church” in the wilderness when Moses was on mount Sinai receiving the living oracles:

Acts 7:38 This is he that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel that spake to him in the Mount Sinai, and with our fathers: who received living oracles to give unto us:

Many bible teachers believe the tribulation is only for Old Testament Israel but the Word of God proves the church is the woman that must again flee into their wilderness to prove who is worthy to be a part of “all Israel”:

Revelation 12:6 And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that there they may nourish her a thousand two hundred and threescore days.

Acts 14:22 confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many tribulations we must enter into the kingdom of God.

Mark 13:19 For those days shall be tribulation, such as there hath not been the like from the beginning of the creation which God created until now, and never shall be.

The Parables of the Sower

The “parable of the sower” is recorded in the gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke. Examining all three accounts together as precept upon precept, line upon line, here a little, and there a little yields a much greater understanding for those desiring to be weaned from the milk:

Isaiah 28:9-10  Whom will he teach knowledge? and whom will he make to understand the message? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts?  (10)  For it is precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, there a little.

This will also greatly enhance our understanding of why Father cuts some saved Christians likened as branches off of His Son Jesus who is the true vine in the parable of John chapter 15:

John 15:1-2  I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.  (2)  Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Jesus makes very clear distinctions between the four types of hearts likened as ground where the Word of God is sown into. Those “by the wayside” hear the Word of the kingdom but do not understand it and then satan steals the Word from their heart so they do not believe and thus are not saved:

Matthew 13:18-19  Hear then ye the parable of the sower.  (19)  When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the evil one, and snatcheth away that which hath been sown in his heart. This is he that was sown by the way side.

Mark 4:14-15  The sower soweth the word.  (15)  And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; and when they have heard, straightway cometh Satan, and taketh away the word which hath been sown in them.

Luke 8:11-12  Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.  (12)  And those by the way side are they that have heard; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word from their heart, that they may not believe and be saved.

Jesus made it very clear that those by the wayside did not believe and were not saved:

Acts 16:30-31 and brought them out and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? (31) And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved, thou and thy house.

He then goes on to prove the three other types of ground represent those who hear, receive, and believe the Word sown in their heart and thus are saved. Those likened to rocky places receive the Word of God with joy enduring for a while in that salvation but do not allow the Word of God to root into them through abiding in study of the Word and thus in time of trial and temptation fall away:

Matthew 13:20-21  And he that was sown upon the rocky places, this is he that heareth the word, and straightway with joy receiveth it;  (21)  yet hath he not root in himself, but endureth for a while; and when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, straightway he stumbleth.

Mark 4:16-17  And these in like manner are they that are sown upon the rocky places, who, when they have heard the word, straightway receive it with joy;  (17)  and they have no root in themselves, but endure for a while; then, when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, straightway they stumble.

Luke 8:13  And those on the rock are they who, when they have heard, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

Unlike those rocky believers who only endure for awhile, we are required to endure temptation unto our end to be approved to receive the crown of life:

Matthew 24:13 But he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved.

James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation; for when he hath been approved, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to them that love him.

Those saved Christians who represent the ground with a heart among the thorns are those that let the cares of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things enter into their heart choking the Word so they bring no fruit to perfection:

Matthew 13:22 And he that was sown among the thorns, this is he that heareth the word; and the care of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.

Mark 4:18-19  And others are they that are sown among the thorns; these are they that have heard the word,  (19)  and the cares of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

Luke 8:14  And that which fell among the thorns, these are they that have heard, and as they go on their way they are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

We as Christians are called out of the world and its sinful passions toward any idol that bring forth fruit unto death, so that we may bring forth fruit unto God in our temple:

Romans 7:4-5 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also were made dead to the law through the body of Christ; that ye should be joined to another, even to him who was raised from the dead, that we might bring forth fruit unto God. (5) For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions, which were through the law, wrought in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

2 Corinthians 6:16-18 And what agreement hath a temple of God with idols? for we are a temple of the living God; even as God said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. (17) Wherefore Come ye out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, And touch no unclean thing; And I will receive you, (18) And will be to you a Father, And ye shall be to me sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

The good ground represents the Christians who learn to separate from the world and the many idols of the world that distract us from time in the Word. In an honest and good heart they hear the Word, accept the Word, understand the Word, and hold fast to the Word bringing forth the required fruit:

Matthew 13:23  And he that was sown upon the good ground, this is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; who verily beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

Mark 4:20  And those are they that were sown upon the good ground; such as hear the word, and accept it, and bear fruit, thirtyfold, and sixtyfold, and a hundredfold.

Luke 8:15  And that in the good ground, these are such as in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, hold it fast, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Holding fast to the Word helps us to recognize the difference between good fruit and corrupt fruit such as those false prophets among us in sheep’s clothing that appear holy on the outside doing many mighty works but inside their soul they are full of iniquity such as envy:

Matthew 7:13-23  Enter ye in by the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many are they that enter in thereby.  (14)  For narrow is the gate, and straitened the way, that leadeth unto life, and few are they that find it.  (15)  Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves. (21)  Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father who is in heaven.  (22)  Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy by thy name, and by thy name cast out demons, and by thy name do many mighty works?  (23)  And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Paul warned that shortly after he departed over 1900 years ago that men who are believers among us would rise up teaching many perverse things:

Acts 20:29-30 I know that after my departing grievous wolves shall enter in among you, not sparing the flock; (30) and from among your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.

These men turn the grace of our Father into lasciviousness which is a license to sin by denying that their Master Jesus who bought them can overcome their sin nature:

Jude 1:3-4 & 12  Beloved, while I was giving all diligence to write unto you of our common salvation, I was constrained to write unto you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered unto the saints. (4) For there are certain men crept in privily, even they who were of old written of beforehand unto this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ…..(12)  These are they who are hidden rocks in your love-feasts when they feast with you, shepherds that without fear feed themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

In true hypocrisy, these teachers will be quick to quote that we can do ALL things through Christ BUT in the same sentence deny we can overcome our sin nature through Him:

Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

To be “twice dead” is to be spiritually dead before they were “saved” then after knowing salvation they turn back from the holy commandment delivered unto them and again are entangled in the world with no fruit:

2 Peter 2:20-22  For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein and overcome, the last state is become worse with them than the first.  (21)  For it were better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after knowing it, to turn back from the holy commandment delivered unto them.  (22)  It has happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog turning to his own vomit again, and the sow that had washed to wallowing in the mire.

“Once saved always saved” is another one of these false teacher’s pet lies that encourages many believers to become lazy or even forsake putting to death their flesh through the leading of the Spirit of God though it is commanded of us brethren as debtors:

Romans 8:12-14 So then, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh: (13) for if ye live after the flesh, ye must die; but if by the Spirit ye put to death the deeds of the body, ye shall live. (14) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Those who choose to walk by the Spirit of God learn to crucify the flesh with the passions and the lusts thereof being led by the Spirit of God to manifest all the fruit:

Galatians 5:16-25 But I say, Walk by the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. (17) For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; for these are contrary the one to the other; that ye may not do the things that ye would. (18) But if ye are led by the Spirit, ye are not under the law. (19) Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these: fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, (20) idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousies, wraths, factions, divisions, parties, (21) envyings, drunkenness, revellings, and such like; of which I forewarn you, even as I did forewarn you, that they who practise such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

The false teachers with their lies strip a believer from understanding the need to produce the fruit of the Spirit, but those who hold fast to our Father’s Word are abiding in Jesus, learning to do the will of our Father who is in heaven producing the good fruit which keeps them from being cut off of Jesus:

John 15:1-6  I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.  (2)  Every branch in me that beareth not fruit, he taketh it away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he cleanseth it, that it may bear more fruit.  (3)  Already ye are clean because of the word which I have spoken unto you.  (4)  Abide in me, and I in you.

No one becomes a branch on the vine who is Jesus without believing on the Lord Jesus Christ:

Acts 16:30-31  and brought them out and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?  (31)  And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved, thou and thy house.

Once we become a believer we are required to become servants of God presenting our members as servants to righteousness producing the fruit unto sanctification:

Romans 6:19-23 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye presented your members as servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity, even so now present your members as servants to righteousness unto sanctification. (20) For when ye were servants of sin, ye were free in regard of righteousness. (21) What fruit then had ye at that time in the things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. (22)  But now being made free from sin and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto sanctification, and the end eternal life. (23) For the wages of sin is death; but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

This requires losing our life for the life of Christ first by faith:

John 12:24-25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a grain of wheat fall into the earth and die, it abideth by itself alone; but if it die, it beareth much fruit. (25) He that loveth his life loseth it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I that live, but Christ liveth in me: and that life which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith which is in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.

As we look earnestly for the manifestation of Jesus’ life in our mortal flesh, in this life, which is called the peaceable fruit of righteousness that our Father brings through chastening:

2 Corinthians 4:10-11 always bearing about in the body the dying of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our body. (11) For we who live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh.

Hebrews 12:6-7 &11  For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, And scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. (7)  It is for chastening that ye endure; God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is there whom his father chasteneth not?…..(11) All chastening seemeth for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yieldeth peaceable fruit unto them that have been exercised thereby, even the fruit of righteousness.

This manifestation of Jesus’ life in our mortal flesh is to partake in Christ’s suffering which proves we obey the gospel of God:

1 Peter 4:12-19 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial among you, which cometh upon you to prove you, as though a strange thing happened unto you: (13)  but insomuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory also ye may rejoice with exceeding joy. (14) If ye are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are ye; because the Spirit of glory and the Spirit of God resteth upon you. (15) For let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or an evil-doer, or as a meddler in other men’s matters: (16) but if a man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this name. (17) For the time is come for judgment to begin at the house of God: and if it begin first at us, what shall be the end of them that obey not the gospel of God? (18) And if the righteous is scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and sinner appear? (19) Wherefore let them also that suffer according to the will of God commit their souls in well-doing unto a faithful Creator.

Trinity: True or False?

The doctrine of the Trinity defines God as one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit who are co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections.

Let’s examine scripture to see if the trinity doctrine is true or false.

First Jesus can not be coequal with His Father because He declared His Father “my God” while on the cross before His resurrection:

Matthew 27:46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

Then Jesus declared His Father “my God” after His resurrection but before His final ascension into heaven:

John 20:17 Jesus saith to her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended unto the Father: but go unto my brethren, and say to them, I ascend unto my Father and your Father, and my God and your God.

Then Jesus declared His Father “my God” 4 times after His ascension while seated at the right hand of His Father:

Revelation 3:12 He that overcometh, I will make him a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go out thence no more: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God, and mine own new name.

Paul and Peter both agreed that the Father is the God of our Lord Jesus Christ:

Romans 15:6 that with one accord ye may with one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Corinthians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort;

2 Corinthians 11:31 The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, he who is blessed for evermore knoweth that I lie not.

Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ:

1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his great mercy begat us again unto a living hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

Twice in Corinthians; Paul spoke of our Father’s authority and possession over Christ as His head just as Christ has authority and possession over us:

1 Corinthians 3:23 and ye are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s.

1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

Next if the Holy Spirit is a distinct person of the trinity then why does He not have a throne with the Father and the Son?:

Revelation 3:21 He that overcometh, I will give to him to sit down with me in my throne, as I also overcame, and sat down with my Father in his throne.

This is because the Holy Spirit does not have his own soul and body with which to sit on a throne like the Father and His Son Jesus have.

Jesus has a spirit, soul, body, and a throne:

Luke 23:46 And Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said this, he gave up the ghost.

John 12:27 Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour. But for this cause came I unto this hour.

Matthew 26:12 For in that she poured this ointment upon my body, she did it to prepare me for burial.

Matthew 25:31 But when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit on the throne of his glory:

Our Father has a Spirit, soul, body, and a throne:

Matthew 12:18 Behold, my servant whom I have chosen; My beloved in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my Spirit upon him, And he shall declare judgment to the Gentiles.

Daniel 7:9 I beheld till thrones were placed, and one that was ancient of days did sit: his raiment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like pure wool; his throne was fiery flames, and the wheels thereof burning fire.

Hebrews 12:2 looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising shame, and hath sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Even Daniel was shown in a night vision Jesus as the son of man brought before His Father who as the ancient of days gave Him dominion, glory, and a kingdom:

Daniel 7:13-14 I saw in the night-visions, and, behold, there came with the clouds of heaven one like unto a son of man, and he came even to the ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. (14) And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all the peoples, nations, and languages should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

There is not one scripture that declares the Holy Spirit has a soul, physical body, or a throne as the Father and Son but He is seen as the bodily form of a dove when descending upon Jesus:

Luke 3:22 and the Holy Spirit descended in a bodily form as a dove, upon him, and a voice came out of heaven, Thou art my beloved Son: in thee I am well pleased.

This is because the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Father:

Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, in whom ye were sealed unto the day of redemption.

The Holy Spirit is the omnipresent aspect of God the Father that dwells in us:

John 4:24  God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship in spirit and truth.

1 Corinthians 3:16 Know ye not that ye are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

1 Corinthians 2:10-12 But unto us God revealed them through the Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. (11) For who among men knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of the man, which is in him? even so the things of God none knoweth, save the Spirit of God. (12) But we received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is from God; that we might know the things that were freely given to us of God.

Many claim such passages as Matthew 28:19 prove the trinity doctrine is true but the words “Father”, “Son”, and “Holy Spirit” are not names but titles. The word “name” in the Greek is “onoma” which means nature, character, and authority so Jesus was telling His disciples to baptize new disciples into the nature, character, and authority of the “Father”, “Son”, and “Holy Spirit”:

Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit:

The “Father”, “Son”, and “Holy Spirit” are one in nature, character, and authority because our Father through His Holy Spirit gave Jesus His nature, character, and authority:

Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came to them and spake unto them, saying, All authority hath been given unto me in heaven and on earth.

1 Corinthians 1:24 but unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

2 Peter 1:2-4 Grace to you and peace be multiplied in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; (3) seeing that his divine power hath granted unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that called us by his own glory and virtue; (4) whereby he hath granted unto us his precious and exceeding great promises; that through these ye may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world by lust.

Luke 22:69 But from henceforth shall the Son of man be seated at the right hand of the power of God.

John 10:30 is often used to declare the Father and Jesus are one in essence:

John 10:30 I and the Father are one.

But Jesus proved that He and Father were only one in unity and not in essence:

John 17:11 And I am no more in the world, and these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep them in thy name which thou hast given me, that they may be one, even as we are.

John 17:22 And the glory which thou hast given me I have given unto them; that they may be one, even as we are one;

Jesus was praying to His Father in John chapter 17 for His disciples that “they may be one, even as we are one”. We as disciples can only ever be one in unity so Jesus is declaring He is one in unity with His Father and not in essence:

John 17:20-21 Neither for these only do I pray, but for them also that believe on me through their word; (21) that they may all be one; even as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be in us: that the world may believe that thou didst send me.

1 Corinthians 8:5-6 For though there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or on earth; as there are gods many, and lords many; (6)  yet to us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we unto him; and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and we through him.

Jesus often silenced the demons because they knew He was the Son of the Most High God and wanted to declare it:

Mark 1:34  And he healed many that were sick with divers diseases, and cast out many demons; and he suffered not the demons to speak, because they knew him.

Mark 5:6-7 And when he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshipped him; (7) and crying out with a loud voice, he saith, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the Most High God? I adjure thee by God, torment me not.

Luke 4:41 And demons also came out from many, crying out, and saying, Thou art the Son of God. And rebuking them, he suffered them not to speak, because they knew that he was the Christ.

Most teachers scoff at the idea that Jesus had a beginning but the scriptures prove He was the first born of all creation:

Colossians 1:13-15 who delivered us out of the power of darkness, and translated us into the kingdom of the Son of his love; (14) in whom we have our redemption, the forgiveness of our sins: (15)  who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation;

We know that Jesus is the Word of God:

Revelation 19:13 And he is arrayed in a garment sprinkled with blood: and his name is called The Word of God.

We know that Jesus was the Word before He became flesh:

John 1:14 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us (and we beheld his glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father), full of grace and truth.

We know that Jesus as the Word of God is the wisdom of God:

1 Corinthians 1:24 but unto them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

As the Wisdom of God, He spoke as the Word of God in the OT through prophets:

Luke 11:49 Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send unto them prophets and apostles; and some of them they shall kill and persecute;

We know that the Word of God who is Jesus is the same from the Old Testament through the New Testament and for ever:

Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and to-day, (yea) and for ever.

So if the wisdom of God is the Word of God who is Jesus let’s see what “Wisdom” has to say about Himself:

Proverbs 8:12-36  I wisdom have made prudence my dwelling, And find out knowledge and discretion. (13) The fear of the Lord is to hate evil: Pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, And the perverse mouth, do I hate. (14) Counsel is mine, and sound knowledge: I am understanding; I have might. (15) By me kings reign, And princes decree justice. (16) By me princes rule, And nobles, even all the judges of the earth. (17)  I love them that love me; And those that seek me diligently shall find me. (18) Riches and honor are with me; Yea, durable wealth and righteousness. (19) My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; And my revenue than choice silver. (20)  I walk in the way of righteousness, In the midst of the paths of justice; (21) That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance, And that I may fill their treasuries. (22) The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his way, Before his works of old. (23)  I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, Before the earth was. (24) When there were no depths, I was brought forth, When there were no fountains abounding with water. (25) Before the mountains were settled, Before the hills was I brought forth; (26) While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, Nor the beginning of the dust of the world. (27) When he established the heavens, I was there: When he set a circle upon the face of the deep, (28) When he made firm the skies above, When the fountains of the deep became strong, (29) When he gave to the sea its bound, That the waters should not transgress his commandment, When he marked out the foundations of the earth; (30)  Then I was by him, as a master workman; And I was daily his delight, Rejoicing always before him, (31) Rejoicing in his habitable earth; And my delight was with the sons of men. (32)  Now therefore, my sons, hearken unto me; For blessed are they that keep my ways. (33) Hear instruction, and be wise, And refuse it not. (34)  Blessed is the man that heareth me, Watching daily at my gates, Waiting at the posts of my doors. (35) For whoso findeth me findeth life, And shall obtain favor of the Lord. (36) But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: All they that hate me love death.

Father possessed His Word in the beginning and set Him up before the earth was, before the depths of the seas, and before the hills were. Father brought forth His Word out of Him as His master workman that He used to speak forth His creation:

Psalms 33:6-9  By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, And all the host of them by the breath of his mouth. (7) He gathereth the waters of the sea together as a heap: He layeth up the deeps in store-houses. (8) Let all the earth fear the Lord: Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him. (9) For he spake, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.

While all of Proverbs 8:12-36 is clearly Jesus speaking of His being brought forth from the Father, verses 34 and 35 also clearly prove Jesus is declaring Himself the door that we enter into life through:

John 10:9  I am the door; by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and go out, and shall find pasture.

Jesus spoke exactly what Proverbs 8 teaches about Him coming forth out of His Father as the Word who became flesh even asking the teachers of the law why they do not understand his quotes of the Old Testament:

John 8:42-43 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I came forth and am come from God; for neither have I come of myself, but he sent me. (43) Why do ye not understand my speech?  Even because ye cannot hear my word.

John 13:3  Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he came forth from God, and goeth unto God,

John 16:27-28  for the Father himself loveth you, because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came forth from the Father.  (28)  I came out from the Father, and am come into the world: again, I leave the world, and go unto the Father.

Jesus also declared himself “the beginning of the creation of God” when speaking to John on the isle of Patmos:

Revelation 3:14 And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God:

Father spoke forth His Word as “the beginning of the creation of God” and declared Him our God and then used His Word as His master workman to make all of the rest of His creation through Him”:

John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (2) The same was in the beginning with God. (3)  All things were made through him; and without him was not anything made that hath been made.

Colossians 1:15-17 who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; (16) for in him were all things created, in the heavens and upon the earth, things visible and things invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things have been created through him, and unto him; (17) and he is before all things, and in him all things consist.

All sons of God are the God(Elohim) who standeth in the congregation of the Most High God(EL) who is our Father:

Psalms 82:1-8 A Psalm of Asaph. God standeth in the congregation of God; He judgeth among the gods. (2) How long will ye judge unjustly, And respect the persons of the wicked? Selah. (3) Judge the poor and fatherless: Do justice to the afflicted and destitute. (4) Rescue the poor and needy: Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked. (5) They know not, neither do they understand; They walk to and fro in darkness: All the foundations of the earth are shaken. (6)  I said, Ye are gods, And all of you sons of the Most High. (7) Nevertheless ye shall die like men, And fall like one of the princes. (8) Arise, O God, judge the earth; For thou shalt inherit all the nations.

The first 85 times the word “God” was used in the book of Genesis it was translated from the Hebrew word “Elohim” and was speaking of the pluralistic state of two “Gods” being the Father and His Word who He used to speak forth all of the rest of creation. This is proven with God being described as plural with the use of the words “us” and “our”:

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the heavens, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Genesis 14:18-22 is the first place the word “God” is translated from the singular Hebrew word “EL” in the old testament and just happens to be the first place the term “Most High” is used proving our Father is Jehovah who is God Most High:

Genesis 14:18-22 And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was priest of God Most High. (19) And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth: (20) and blessed be God Most High, who hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him a tenth of all. (21) And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself. (22) And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lifted up my hand unto Jehovah, God Most High, possessor of heaven and earth,

1 Corinthians 11:3  But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

We have a right to be joint heirs as gods under the Son of God who is our head:

John 10:34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?

Romans 8:17 and if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified with him.

Colossians 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

And as I pointed out earlier the head of Jesus is the Most High God:

1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

The English word “Godhead” comes from the Greek word “theotes” which means supreme divinity or “head God”:

Colossians 2:8-10 Take heed lest there shall be any one that maketh spoil of you through his philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ: (9)  for in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily, (10) and in him ye are made full, who is the head of all principality and power:

So in Jesus “dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily” who is the Most High God who Jesus always referred to as “my Father” and we as Christians do too:

Jeremiah 3:19 But I said, How I will put thee among the children, and give thee a pleasant land, a goodly heritage of the hosts of the nations! and I said, Ye shall call me My Father, and shall not turn away from following me.

John 14:10-12 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I say unto you I speak not from myself: but the Father abiding in me doeth his works. (11) Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake. (12) Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto the Father.

When Jesus said “I am in the Father” He was saying He was the Word that was always in the Father just like our Words are always in us so when we speak it should be a manifestation of who we are as believers:

Matthew 12:36-37 And I say unto you, that every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. (37) For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

When Jesus said “the Father in me” He was saying the Father’s Word(s) and His Spirit were in Him just like they should be in us:

Matthew 10:19-20 But when they deliver you up, be not anxious how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that hour what ye shall speak. (20)  For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father that speaketh in you.

John 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall bear witness of me:

1 Peter 4:11  if any man speaketh, speaking as it were oracles of God; if any man ministereth, ministering as of the strength which God supplieth: that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, whose is the glory and the dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

So the true believer is filled with the Word of the Father, the Spirit of the Father, and the Spirit of Christ that speaks forth only truth as an oracle of God:

Romans 8:9 But ye are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you. But if any man hath not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

This is why Peter could accuse Ananias as a believer of lying to both God and His Holy Spirit. The presence of God was represented through His omnipresent Holy Spirit who is the essence of Him:

Acts 5:3-4  But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back part of the price of the land?  (4)  Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.

So the trinity doctrine as it is worded above is false doctrine. A true description of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is:

“Our Father is the Most High God who has a Holy Spirit. He brought forth His Word as the beginning of His creation and declared Him our God under His authority. He then had His Word become flesh as Jesus the Lamb of God who was conceived of Father’s Holy Spirit”:

Matthew 1:18-20  Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found with child of the Holy Spirit.  (19)  And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.  (20)  But when he thought on these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit.

us-ward

Just as the OT was only ever written to those under the old covenant. Likewise the NT was written only to those Father draws to His Son under the new covenant:

2 Peter 1:1  Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

The word “us” in 2 Peter 1:1 was referring to Peter and the other apostles who “obtained like precious faith” with the believers he was addressing. Toward the end of his letter, Peter again included himself with the use of the word “us-ward” as a fellow believer with them that have obtained like precious faith. He was encouraging them that Father was longsuffering to “us”-ward not willing that any of us believers should spiritually perish from our relationship with Christ:

2 Peter 3:9  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

James agrees with Peter when he uses the term “brethren” that he is only speaking to the saved. If any brother “err from the truth” but does not repent after being shown “the error of his way” that brother in Christ will experience the death of his soul:

James 5:19-20  Brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him;  (20)  Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

Unlike our body, our soul can only ever experience a spiritual death:

Matthew 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Jesus also made it very clear as the vine that only the saved become the branches growing off of Him but His Father will cut off and burn the ones who do not produce His Son’s fruit:

John 15:1-6  I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.  (2)  Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.  (3)  Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.  (4)  Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.  (5)  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.  (6)  If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

Paul also made it very clear that we as wild olive branches could be cut back off the one olive tree if we get high minded or do not continue in the goodness of our new covenant:

Romans 11:20-22  Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:  (21)  For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.  (22)  Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.

Paul warned the Roman church and by extension us that if we do not put to death the deeds of our body we shall die a spiritual death:

Romans 8:12-14  Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.  (13)  For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.  (14)  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

Living after our flesh defiles our temple where the Spirit of God dwells and will cause our Father to destroy us:

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? (17) If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

Living after our flesh is pursuing the lust of our flesh, the lust of our eyes, and having pride in our life which are the sin of the world:

1 John 2:15-17 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (16) For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. (17) And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Jesus taught the disciples that it would be better for them as believers to cut off their hand or foot or pluck out their own eye if any part of their bodies cause them to offend God rather than to be cast in to hell with all their body parts:

Matthew 18:8-9 Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life halt or maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire. (9) And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.

For our God is no respecter of persons whether Christian or not for He will render to every man according to his deeds. Eternal life to those who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality and indignation and wrath unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness:

Romans 2:6-11 Who will render to every man according to his deeds: (7) To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: (8) But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, (9) Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; (10) But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: (11) For there is no respect of persons with God.

Him Crucified

Most scholars agree that Paul’s first letter was to the Galatians sometime during his second missionary journey with Silas:

Galatians 1:1 Paul, an apostle (not from men, neither through man, but through Jesus Christ, and God the Father, who raised him from the dead),

In this letter as with most of His letters, Paul instructed us to seek the crucified life in Christ:

Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living in me: and that life which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith which is in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.

Paul also stressed the importance of maintaining unity as one body in Christ:

Galatians 3:28 There can be neither Jew nor Greek, there can be neither bond nor free, there can be no male and female; for ye all are one man in Christ Jesus.

So when Paul determined not to know anything among the Corinthians save Jesus Christ, and him crucified; was he referring to us as His body as the “him crucified”:

1 Corinthians 2:2 For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

Let’s see if we can prove this to be true :o)

Once we accept the gift of salvation we are no longer the owner of our life for we were bought with a price:

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Or know ye not that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which ye have from God? and ye are not your own; (20) for ye were bought with a price: glorify God therefore in your body.

Just as a bondservant renounces all his rights to his master, we also must renounce our life to our Master Jesus as His bondservant and disciple:

Matthew 23:10 Neither be ye called masters: for one is your master, even the Christ.

1 Corinthians 7:22-23 For he that was called in the Lord being a bondservant, is the Lord’s freedman: likewise he that was called being free, is Christ’s bondservant. (23) Ye were bought with a price; become not bondservants of men.

Luke 14:26-27 If any man cometh unto me, and hateth not his own father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. (27) Whosoever doth not bear his own cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

Luke 14:33 So therefore whosoever he be of you that renounceth not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

The disciple of Christ is here to learn to daily lose his life in exchange for Christ’s life:

Luke 9:23-24 And he said unto all, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. (24) For whosoever would save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

Mark 8:34 And he called unto him the multitude with his disciples, and said unto them, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

A true disciple will abide in Christ learning to walk as He walked:

1 John 2:6 he that saith he abideth in him ought himself also to walk even as he walked.

One who walks as Christ learns to crucify their flesh:

John 8:31-32 Jesus therefore said to those Jews that had believed him, If ye abide in my word, then are ye truly my disciples; (32) and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Galatians 5:24-25 And they that are of Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with the passions and the lusts thereof. (25) If we live by the Spirit, by the Spirit let us also walk.

The passions of this life include anything we desire to spend more time with than Father and His Word learning to do His will:

1 John 2:15-17 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. (16) For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the vain glory of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. (17) And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Father through His Spirit led Jesus to a physical cross so that now we may be led of His Spirit to our spiritual cross of the crucified life:

Romans 8:13  for if ye live after the flesh, ye must die; but if by the Spirit ye put to death the deeds of the body, ye shall live.

Mark 8:35 For whosoever would save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s shall save it.

Paul stressed how important it was to bring our body under bondage to Christ as the Word of God:

1 Corinthians 15:31 I protest by that glorifying in you, brethren, which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.

1 Corinthians 9:26-27 I therefore so run, as not uncertainly; so fight I, as not beating the air: (27) but I buffet my body, and bring it into bondage: lest by any means, after that I have preached to others, I myself should be rejected.

Paul knew very well that a healthy fear of our Father was the beginning of wisdom that could keep us out of hell:

Matthew 10:28 And be not afraid of them that kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Proverbs 9:10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Peter as well taught that we should develop a healthy fear of living in sin:

1 Peter 4:17-19 For the time is come for judgment to begin at the house of God: and if it begin first at us, what shall be the end of them that obey not the gospel of God? (18) And if the righteous is scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and sinner appear? (19) Wherefore let them also that suffer according to the will of God commit their souls in well-doing unto a faithful Creator.

We are encouraged to always bear about in our body the dying of Jesus in this life that the life of Jesus will manifest in our mortal flesh:

2 Corinthians 4:10-11 always bearing about in the body the dying of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our body. (11) For we who live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh.

Those who allow the Spirit of  God to lead them in to the crucified life will be declared sons of God in their end:

Romans 8:13-14 for if ye live after the flesh, ye must die; but if by the Spirit ye put to death the deeds of the body, ye shall live. (14) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

Matthew 10:22 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved.

We receive by faith these promises from our Father but only those who actively walk in obedience to them as overcomers will be declared sons of God in our end:

2 Corinthians 7:1 Having therefore these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Revelation 21:7 He that overcometh shall inherit these things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

It is for the love of Christ that we should no longer live unto ourselves but through Christ encourage all to die to self:

2 Corinthians 5:14-15 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that one died for all, therefore all died; (15) and he died for all, that they that live should no longer live unto themselves, but unto him who for their sakes died and rose again.

It is by faith in the son of God that the crucified life is perfected:

Philippians 1:6  being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ:

So let us look unto Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith who will help us to lay aside everything that hinders us from finishing this race of the crucified life:

Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore let us also, seeing we are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, (2) looking unto Jesus the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising shame, and hath sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

The mystery of lawlessness

Most prophecy teachers claim the Holy Spirit will not be on the earth during the tribulation to restrain the lawless one.

Lets walk through the first twelve verses of 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 to see what Paul wanted us to know in regard to “the mystery of the lawless one” :

2 Thessalonians 2:1-2  Now we beseech you, brethren, touching the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our gathering together unto him; (2)  to the end that ye be not quickly shaken from your mind, nor yet be troubled, either by spirit, or by word, or by epistle as from us, as that the day of the Lord is just at hand;

Paul wanted the brethren to rest in faith that their gathering together was to happen during the “day of the Lord” which is the year of the redeemed immediately after the tribulation:

Jeremiah 46:10  For that day is a day of the Lord, Jehovah of hosts, a day of vengeance, that he may avenge him of his adversaries:

Isaiah 63:4  For the day of vengeance was in my heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.

Acts 2:20  The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the day of the Lord come, That great and notable day.

Matthew 24:29-31  But immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:  (30)  and then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.  (31)  And he shall send forth his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

We have already proven with scripture in our previous post called “The Rapture of the Church is after the Tribulation” that the “day of the Lord” which is the “the year of Father’s redeemed” and is a distinct year immediately after the tribulation:

https://sumofthyword.com/2016/10/04/the-rapture-of-the-church-is-after-the-tribulation/

But there must be a falling away that comes first during the 7 year tribulation when “the man of sin will be revealed, the son of perdition”:

2 Thessalonians 2:3  let no man beguile you in any wise: for it will not be, except the falling away come first, and the man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition,

The majority of the church has become very confused about who the son of perdition is and how that man of sin is revealed but Jesus already revealed to us how one inherits the title of a “son of perdition”:

John 17:12  While I was with them, I kept them in thy name which thou hast given me: and I guarded them, and not one of them perished, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

Judas Iscariot was called into the name of the Father and was kept and guarded with the other disciples in that name by Jesus until the time came for the scriptures to be fulfilled. Judas refused to obey Jesus’ teaching to overcome his lust for money so at the appointed time Jesus revealed the man of willful sin among them so Satan could enter Judas as a son of perdition ~ sop:

John 13:26-27  Jesus therefore answereth, He it is, for whom I shall dip the sop, and give it him. So when he had dipped the sop, he taketh and giveth it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot.  (27)  And after the sop, then entered Satan into him. Jesus therefore saith unto him, What thou doest, do quickly.

The word apostle means an ambassador for Christ. Judas Iscariot was an apostle who “fell away” from the ministry Christ called him to and therefore went to “his own place” which is perdition:

Acts 1:25  to take the place in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas fell away, that he might go to his own place.

The Greek word “apoleia” is the same word used for both perdition and destruction which is the broad road for all who ignore the Spirit of God:

Matthew 7:13  Enter ye in by the narrow gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many are they that enter in thereby.

To “fall away” from the ministry of Christ is to “shrink back”. Paul warned in Hebrews using the word “if” as a conjunction to prove the very real possibility that any Christian can “shrink back unto perdition”:

Hebrews 10:38-39  But my righteous one shall live by faith: And if he shrink back, my soul hath no pleasure in him.  (39)  But we are not of them that shrink back unto perdition; but of them that have faith unto the saving of the soul.

Paul was warning that shrinking back was to “become a traitor” to the faith in Jesus:

Luke 6:16  and Judas the son of James, and Judas Iscariot, who became a traitor;

Jesus is the head of the church who is a corporate body of believers called “one body in Christ”:

Romans 12:5  so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and severally members one of another.

Satan also is the head of a body of those who were either never called or, like Judas, fall back into Satan’s body that they were called out of:

John 8:44  Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father it is your will to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and standeth not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father thereof.

This is referred to by John as many antichrists forming the body of “the antichrist”:

1 John 2:18-22  Little children, it is the last hour: and as ye heard that antichrist cometh, even now have there arisen many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last hour.  (19)  They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they all are not of us.  (20)  And ye have an anointing from the Holy One, and ye know all the things.  (21)  I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and because no lie is of the truth.  (22)  Who is the liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, even he that denieth the Father and the Son.

Just as Judas went out from Jesus and the other disciples, John is pointing out that there will be many antichrists who go out from us leaving the church in this last hour. John refers to these many antichrists as one body called “the antichrist”. They become traitors who withstand the truth denying the power of Christ to overcome their flesh which brings reprobation:

2 Timothy 3:1-9  But know this, that in the last days grievous times shall come. (8)  And even as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also withstand the truth. Men corrupted in mind, reprobate concerning the faith.  (9)  But they shall proceed no further. For their folly shall be evident unto all men, as theirs also came to be.

These antichrist are a body of “many deceivers” who are gone back into the world from out of the church proving they love pleasure more than God and His Word.

Jesus is not manifesting(cometh) in their flesh as Lord of their spirit, soul, and body:

2 John 1:7  For many deceivers are gone forth into the world, even they that confess not that Jesus Christ cometh in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist.

Here is the third time John declares some within the church go forth back into the world proving they are a part of the sons of perdition who have the spirit of the antichrist which is the spirit of error:

1 John 4:1-6  Beloved, believe not every spirit, but prove the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets are gone out into the world.  (2)  Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God:  (3)  and every spirit that confesseth not Jesus is not of God: and this is the spirit of the antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it cometh; and now it is in the world already.  (4)  Ye are of God, my little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.  (5)  They are of the world: therefore speak they as of the world, and the world heareth them.  (6)  We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he who is not of God heareth us not. By this we know the spirit of truth(Christ rules you), and the spirit of error(satan rules you).

The word “confesseth” is written in the present tense because its talking about Jesus coming in our flesh. Not “has come” as some translations word it thinking this passage was talking about when Jesus came in His flesh. We are here to learn to die daily to this life and its lusts so that Jesus manifests in our body ~ mortal flesh:

2 Corinthians 4:10-11  always bearing about in the body the dying of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our body.  (11)  For we who live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh.

Luke 9:23-24  And he said unto all, If any man would come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.  (24)  For whosoever would save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

Now that we have established that the son of perdition is a body of antichrists whose head is satan, the rest of 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 becomes very easy to understand:

2 Thessalonians 2:4  he that opposeth and exalteth himself against all that is called God or that is worshipped; so that he sitteth in the temple of God, setting himself forth as God.

Contrary to the popular bible teaching today; there is never going to be any temple made by man’s hands that our Most High God is going to dwell in:

Acts 7:47-50  But Solomon built him a house.  (48)  Howbeit the Most High dwelleth not in houses made with hands; as saith the prophet,  (49)  The heaven is my throne, And the earth the footstool of my feet: What manner of house will ye build Me? saith the Lord: Or what is the place of My rest?  (50)  Did not my hand make all these things?

Those called unto Jesus are the temple but if any of us chose to destroy our temple by willfully allowing sin to dwell with the Spirit of God, God will destroy him:

1 Corinthians 3:16-17  Know ye not that ye are a temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?  (17)  If any man destroyeth the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, and such are ye.

The popular teaching today is that the antichrist is a physical man but no physical man can dwell inside of another physical man. Only a spirit can dwell there such as satan who as our adversary desires to dwell in the Christian which will cause him or her to be devoured as Judas was:

1 Peter 5:8-9  Be sober, be watchful: your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour,  (9)  whom withstand stedfast in your faith, knowing that the same sufferings are accomplished in your brethren who are in the world.

So the “he” in 2 Thessalonians 2:4 who is “opposing and exalting himself against all that is called God or that is worshipped’ is satan sitting in a Christian’s temple setting himself forth as god of that temple:

2 Thessalonians 2:4he(satan) that opposeth and exalteth himself against all that is called God or that is worshipped; so that he sitteth in the temple of God, setting himself forth as God.

Paul then reminds the Thessalonians that he warned them this could happen to any one of them who chose to fall away into sin:

2 Thessalonians 2:5  Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?

Paul warned the church that “sons of perdition” are always going to be among us fashioning themselves into apostles of Christ:

2 Corinthians 11:13-15  For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, fashioning themselves into apostles of Christ.  (14)  And no marvel; for even Satan fashioneth himself into an angel of light.  (15)  It is no great thing therefore if his ministers also fashion themselves as ministers of righteousness, whose end shall be according to their works.

These “restrain” God’s glory from manifesting in the church.  These sons of perdition will be revealed in the season of the tribulation as a corporate body ruled by the devil:

2 Thessalonians 2:6  And now ye know that which restraineth, to the end that he may be revealed in his own season.

John 6:70 Jesus answered them, Did not I choose you the twelve, and one of you is a devil?

Jesus always knew which one of the twelve disciples he chose would refuse to allow the Word of God to overcome satan’s rule of his soul but He never revealed the son of perdition until 3 1/2 years later at the appointed season:

John 6:64-66  But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who it was that should betray him.  (65)  And he said, For this cause have I said unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it be given unto him of the Father.  (66)  Upon this many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

Many disciples will fall back from the teachings of Jesus not enduring in their walk with Jesus unto their end:

Matthew 24:11-14  And many false prophets shall arise, and shall lead many astray.  (12)  And because iniquity shall be multiplied, the love of the many shall wax cold.  (13)  But he that endureth to the end, the same shall be saved.  (14)  And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a testimony unto all the nations; and then shall the end come.

It was not until Judas as a son of perdition went out from their midst that the Son of man was glorified, and God was glorified in him:

John 13:31-32  When therefore he(Judas) was gone out, Jesus saith, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in him;  (32)  and God shall glorify him in himself, and straightway shall he glorify him.

So too in these last days it will not be until the mystery of lawlessness that is already working and restraining the church is taken out of the way that the one body of the sons of perdition will be revealed as tares which looks like wheat with no fruit:

Matthew 13:37-43 And he answered and said, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; (38) and the field is the world; and the good seed, these are the sons of the kingdom; and the tares are the sons of the evil one; (39) and the enemy that sowed them is the devil: and the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are angels. (40) As therefore the tares are gathered up and burned with fire; so shall it be in the end of the world. (41) The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that cause stumbling, and them that do iniquity, (42) and shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth. (43) Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father. He that hath ears, let him hear.

Those who willfully sin restrain the righteous until they are taken out of the way:

2 Thessalonians 2:7  For the mystery of lawlessness doth already work: only there is one that restraineth now, until he be taken out of the way.

Many in the church today do not walk as Jesus did but instead spend most of their time minding earthly things, feeding themselves with the lusts of the world which will bring their perdition:

1 John 2:6  he that saith he abideth in him ought himself also to walk even as he walked.

Just as Jesus revealed who Judas was near the end of His earthly ministry there will be a revealing of the “lawless one” during the tribulation who are a corporate body of those who continue to live after their flesh while a part of the church:

2 Thessalonians 2:8  And then shall be revealed the lawless one, whom the Lord Jesus shall slay with the breath of his mouth, and bring to nought by the manifestation of his coming;

Judas was called by Jesus as a disciple/apostle making him a child of God. All those called into the church are children of God but the word “if” declares not all of the church will manifest Christ. Those who actively desire to manifest Christ will see the real Jesus by abiding in the Word seeking to purify themselves as He is pure:

1 John 3:2-4  Beloved, now are we children of God, and it is not yet made manifest what we shall be. We know that, if he shall be manifested, we shall be like him; for we shall see him even as he is.  (3)  And every one that hath this hope set on him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.  (4)  Every one that doeth sin doeth also lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.

Most of the church has been fed the lie that they do not need tribulation though Father made it very clear that is the only way we enter the kingdom of God:

Acts 14:22  confirming the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that through many tribulations we must enter into the kingdom of God.

Judas did not arm himself with the same mind as Jesus and neither does most of the church today because they are taught they can not cease from sin:

1 Peter 4:1-2  Forasmuch then as Christ suffered in the flesh, arm ye yourselves also with the same mind; for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;  (2)  that ye no longer should live the rest of your time in flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

Paul wanted the church to know that these lawless ones both within and without the church will be coming according to the working of satan with all power and signs and lying wonders:

2 Thessalonians 2:9  even he, whose coming is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,

Jesus also warned us beforehand of many false Christs who were coming during the tribulation with great signs and wonders:

Matthew 24:23-25  Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is the Christ, or, Here; believe it not.  (24)  For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.  (25)  Behold, I have told you beforehand.

These false Christs and false prophets will lead many astray who will fall away from the faith through their demon doctrines:

1 Timothy 4:1-2  But the Spirit saith expressly, that in later times some shall fall away from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons,  (2)  through the hypocrisy of men that speak lies, branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron;

These who fall away from the faith such as Judas were saved in spirit but “they received not the love of the truth” that brings soul salvation which is a change of heart and true repentance:

2 Thessalonians 2:10  and with all deceit of unrighteousness for them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

They do not love the truth enough to abide in it but fall away due to the manifold trials which come to prove our faith:

1 Peter 1:6-9  Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, ye have been put to grief in manifold trials,  (7)  that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold that perisheth though it is proved by fire, may be found unto praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ:  (8)  whom not having seen ye love; on whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice greatly with joy unspeakable and full of glory:  (9)  receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

Those who prove their faith are manifesting the revelation of Jesus Christ in them which is the end of our faith and the saving of our souls! The sons of perdition such as Judas refuse to overcome their lust for things such as money which develop in our souls when we listen to the lying spirits that God sends to bring trials:

2 Thessalonians 2:11  And for this cause God sendeth them a working of error, that they should believe a lie:

Nineteen hundred years ago Paul warned all the churches that there would be some brethren among them who believing a lie will rise up in the church propagating those lies:

Acts 20:27-30  For I shrank not from declaring unto you the whole counsel of God.  (28)  Take heed unto yourselves, and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit hath made you bishops, to feed the church of the Lord which he purchased with his own blood.  (29)  I know that after my departing grievous wolves shall enter in among you, not sparing the flock;  (30)  and from among your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away the disciples after them.

All they in the church who choose not to study the Word so they are equipped to identify these liars may fall for their lies and be judged:

2 Thessalonians  2:12  that they all might be judged who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

The will of God for the church is not to live in pleasure in this life but rather committing their souls in well-doing unto a faithful Creator:

John 12:25  He that loveth his life loseth it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal.

Instead the church is being taught that they will never be anything but a bunch of dirty rotten sinners saved by grace. These teachers are ungodly men who have turned the grace of our God into lasciviousness(license to sin) and created a bunch of lawless ones in the church who deny Jesus Christ His right to rule in their temple with His power to drive out all sin in our spirit, soul, and body:

Jude 1:4  For there are certain men crept in privily, even they who were of old written of beforehand unto this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

1 Thessalonians 5:22-24 abstain from every form of evil. (23) And the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved entire, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. (24) Faithful is he that calleth you, who will also do it.

This mystery of lawlessness are those hidden rocks in the church today who as shepherds and those they lead astray that will be revealed as a lawless body of sons of perdition with no fruit:

Jude 1:12  These are they who are hidden rocks in your love-feasts when they feast with you, shepherds that without fear feed themselves; clouds without water, carried along by winds; autumn leaves without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;

These are twice dead which means they were spiritually dead before they were called by Father and then fall away causing spiritual death to reoccur :o(
